Review- Matchbox Concept Hostel- Singapore

I am currently sitting in my hostel typing on a laptop that was given to me to use for free. I am smelling of free designer shampoos, lotions and shower gels that were included in the price of my stay at Matchbox Concept Hostel. I love this hostel, next time I am in Singapore I will stay here again mainly because of the beautiful staff girls! They were a pleasure to hang out with, they went beyond the call of duty to help a customer and they helped you with all your direction needs.
The beanbag loft! It now has swings!

Price breakdown: 45-52 a night for a single bed depending if you're in the female only or mixed dorm. Totally worth it. Saw the hostels that were going for 18-22 in Little India and they looked like crack dens. One of them, The Prince of Wales had no air-conditioning and you could see into the bunk room where you could see the backpackers trying to sleep through the heat and the construction outside. I would rather pay twice as much and get more freebies.
The cute exterior let's you know this place is going to be a happy environment!

The freebies are extensive at Matchbox concept hostel. You get free towels, laptops for wifi use during your stay, free wifi, a library full of books and magazines (I read like 20 magazines on my stay!), games and a very nice home cinema upstairs in the cozy loft, great showers with free toiletries (no need for 3 oz. bottles!), they also have maps and any travel guides you might need for Singapore on your stay. AND BREAKFAST, tea and coffee. I kind of wish the coffee had been a little better. It was that stuff you pour into a mug with hot water but you know it was free so there was really no complaining.

Great location placed between Tanjong MRT (green line) and Chinatown (purple). There are several art galleries in the area and lots of cheap eats in the area. Maxwell Hawker stand is a must hit and only 3 blocks away! The green line is where the airport is so you can travel easily to and fro from the airport or a cab is just 20-25 Singapore dollars.
The hostel has single beds or queen size pods for couples who want to snuggle!

Beds are super comfy and give you a lot of privacy. Lots of long term backpackers were saying this was their favorite hostel of the whole trip. (Some had been traveling over a year!) Never underestimate the power of a free towel and a friendly staff. The place was a simply happy experience and I was happy to give them my business!
Grade: A+
Special thanks to Mag and all the girls on the staff who made my trip extra special!
